Umuahia – Frontline politician and governorship aspirant on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, has described education as one of the best gifts that can be offered to any child especially at the basic levels to make them stand a chance of contributing meaningfully to their family and the society.

Speaking while handing out funds meant for the payment of the West African Examination Council, WAEC, as well as those National Examination Council, NECO, fees for the indigent in his country home, Isiebu in Isiala Mbano council area, he insisted that it is his desire to see that every child enjoys education n matter the status of their parents.

Araraume, a two-time senator for Okigwe zone was fulfilling the promise he made when stakeholders of Osuachara urges him to assist in off setting  the secondary examination fees of the wards from the area,  who may not be able to settle the bills for the current year.

The stakeholders maintained that owing t the current travails of workers in the state who were yet to receive their pay and the attendant hiccups, most parents especially the indigent were finding it hard to feed let alone pay the examination fees, adding that it would be a burden off their shoulders if such help could come.

He told them that he was conscious of his upbringing and the many obstacles he had to surmount in order to arrive where he was now, insisting that whatever helping hand he could tender to the society would bring joy and fulfilment to him.

The governorship hopeful explained that over the years he had settled the bills of students and that it will remain one task he would forever cherish as he receives people from all walks of life who introduce themselves as one of those that enjoyed his support in education, adding that his silent philanthropy in education was something he was not going to let go for any reason.

“This is one of the reasons I am seeking to be governor of Imo State because a lot still need to be done. I have been going through the education budget of Imo State since return to democratic rule and I was amazed at what is allocated to that very important sector that acts as a catalyst to the overall development of the state.

“This is why I have decided that education will enjoy a good chunk of our allocation.  That is one of the areas my administration will invest in because it is important.  Once the citizens are educated, their political consciousness and awareness increases and other beautiful things follow.

“I want to see Imo as a state where the citizens are ahead of their peers and I want to see Imo as a state where citizens take their destiny in their own hands taking the best decisions for themselves and the society.  We must have the Imo of our dreams.”

He therefore urged the stakeholders to eschew rancor in their community and ensure that those deserving to benefit from the funds were not denied and that they should liaise with his office where additional help was needed to ensure that no child was left out.

Receiving the funds on behalf of the Osuachara community Ebere Osuji assured that the funds would be used for the purpose it was provided for and prayed for the actualisation of the governorship aspiration.
