Troops of Mobile Strike Team II deployed in Kaduna have arrested a notorious gun runner and recovered two AK 47 assault rifle with 38 rounds of 7.62mm.
The recovery was made by troops on clearance operation at a suspected armed bandits hideout in Rigachikun general area of Kaduna state on Monday, March 19.
NAIJ.com gathered that the Nigerian Army had placed high surveillance in the area due to criminal activities taking place at the Rigachikun forest and environs.
A statement sent to NAIJ.com by the director, army public relations, Brigadier-General Texas Chukwu, stated that the army has dominated the general area and fish out criminals carrying out nefarious activities.
“The success recorded so far is a proactive measures taking by the army to dominate the general area and fish out criminals that are carrying out kidnapping, armed robbery and cattle rustling,” the statement said.
Recently, the troops recovered locally made weapons in some villages in Taraba state.
The recovery was made during a conduct of cordon and search operations at Kwesati and Tati villages across Ussa and Takum local government areas of the state.
“During the process of the condon and search ,the alerted troops recovered 5 weapons and have been back loaded. Troops continue to make progress as the exercise proceeds at pace,” a statement by Brigadier General Chukwu said.
