On Wednesday, March 21, news broke over the release of 105 schoolgirls who were among the 110 students abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Dapchi, Yobe state.
The federal government, presidency and a couple of minister confirming the release said the girls were returned by the terrorist in the early hours of Wednesday.
However, photos from the ongoing Federal Executive Council meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari has shown how some of the cabinet members reacted to news of the girls’ release.
The federal government had said that the girls were released through a negotiation process and that no payment of ransom was made to the terrorist.
Also the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, reacting to the release of the girls said the return was through a back channel and with the help of friends of Nigeria.
He said while the release was unconditional, operational pause was maintained to ensure that there was no loss of lives during the process.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the State Security Service (SSS) had confirmed that the released girls are in the custody of the secret police.
The agency also assured that in the course of time, President Muhammadu Buhari will be briefed on the development of the incident.
Also, the Nigerian military has deployed helicopters to Dapchi community where the girls were abducted and subsequently released.
It was gathered that the major entrance to Dapchi community has also been blocked by security operatives.
