The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj has asked in a letter to the international community for forming a commission to be tasked with monitoring and going though every transaction made by the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) in Tripoli and the parallel institution in Al-Bayda.

Al-Sirraj said this procedure is needed as the country is willing to carry out real economic reform, however; he lamented the fact that the oil terminals had been shut and delayed the action of the reforms on the ground.

Meanwhile, in a quick response to the proposal, the governor of the CBL Al-Seddiq Al-Kabeer, welcomed in a statement the step by Al-Sirraj and called for the commission to be formed so transparency for work can take effect.

Al-Kabeer said he had been calling for such an action since 2015, adding that it is very healthy to have the work evaluated and figure out the discrepancies.
