Presidential Council accused of forging Libyans’ national ID records

The former Head of the Civil Registry in Libya, Mohammed Abdullah Bubakir, told a TV channel that there are over 1 million forged Libyan National ID numbers in 2016 and 2017 alone.

Bubakir confirmed that the forgery of the IDs has been done in a systematic way by the Presidential Council’s Civil Registry so they can use the upcoming elections to their benefit.

He also said that the Presidential Council’s appointed administration had violated the laws of the Libyan Civil Registry and removed branch offices in desert areas like Ozo region.

He expressed as worry about the granting of illegal citizenships amid the current political and security conditions in the country.
